Feedback on Music Video

It ended up taking much more than 10minutes to recreate all the editing that we did in the original sequence. In fact we still haven't finish, because we had to re-sync and edit effects again. We tried to find other ways to convert the original footage into the new sequence but whenever we did it came out funny looking in a smaller box 

I've just been told now by the college media technition that the settings I was editing in were wrong even though we weren't told that there were no right or wrong settings to edit in. Due to this knew information and technical difficulty I have to restart and try to copy what I've already done and put in a new sequence which is going to delay us and be a set back. Problems on top of problems!!! Becoming really annoying.

There always seems to be problems when it comes to my group with our footage. Now another problem has popped up, my footage is now changing quality when I make it part of the sequence when editing, which just makes it look really bad and makes it look like we didn't focus the camera right. Overall just makes the video look really poor in quality. This is all becoming quite stressful 

More editing, never knew how frustrating editing could be. But it must be done.

Brick Lane shots

 Here are some shots of the location of Brick Lane at which we shot at, it was quite good got some really good shots there.

editing is becoming extremely annoying now, experiencing too much technical difficulties which just make things for my group and I just exhausting. All these technical difficulties are becoming delays and set backs in our progress in editing the music video. Footage that I know my group and I converted, suddenly wasn't converted and now we have to convert most of the footage again. Now I can't start editing the footage until the footage is converted once again.

This is the new location and also replacement to St.Pauls rooftop. This is the college Photo studio, we used a white back drop especially because we believe when making the video black and white that it would much better than if the back drop was black and white.

Setting up the white back drop however took quite some time to do, didn't know or thought it could take nearly an hour to set the whole thing up. It was very time consuming, and because of that we didn't get a lot of footage. However we have made plans to carry on with the footage tomorrow.

My group and I are now going through some complications all because one of our locations, this being St.Pauls rooftop, said that we had to book in advance to record and be granted permission. Unfortunately, when we emailed them asking for permission, they said didn't give us permission and now we have to find another location to record. In last minute thinking of where to shoot instead of St.Pauls rooftop, we booked a photo shoot studio to record in.

This has been quite a set back for my group and I and delayed our progression slightly, but we are overcoming the issue here.

Just a couple of pictures of me n the group shooting in Olympic park, it went fairly well. Got some good angles, experiment with a couple, like low angle shots and trailing shots

Here we got us already editing the footage that we took from yesterday, there were some complications with the footage though, that's because for some reason when the footage was transferred to the mac computers the quality of the video depreciated and it didn't look nice. In the end my group and I discussed that we might have to re-shoot in that location. And hopefully the quality comes out better. It's quite frustrating and a set back in out progression, however it has to be done. 

Had to make sure that the planned day for shooting in the next location was all good and ready, turns weather is supposed to be all good so, so should it be to record👌🙌

More editing 

Just editing the re-take footage that we did yesterday. Thankfully the quality came out much better than the first one.

A picture of us shooting the music video!!! It was fun to do, however there were some complications but that was only with the set up of the scene. We got in several shots in, experimenting with all sorts like wide shots, close ups, tilting camera, trailing shot.

In the end of changing the location of studio in the college, we ended up going back to the original location because we suddenly had a change of mind towards the new location, it just didn't appear right, I know at first I said it looked better but, for some reason it just didn't. The new location was in a TV studio, while the other was in an actual music studio. However, it at first the music studio didn't seem right, at the end we finally concluded that we were going to stick with the original location of the music studio, but we still might use the TV studio though, not entirely sure yet.

Today I learned the general basics of how to use the DSLR cameras that the college has, it's actually has really good quality, got taught by the college technician, after he told me it was actually quite simple. He told me how the camera should be in the sense of how to position it to get good lighting and also how to focus properly. There are two ways to do it, one way may cause the quality of the video to be slight pixelated and the other way allows the video to come out correctly.  

As you can see here, I've emailed the label that was involved with the song that my group and I did for our music video. Letting them know that I'm using there song but only for educational purposes only.

We ended up changing the studio to use in the college, because it looked better than the studio we planned to use before. It fits our profile better and also because of the availability for the other studio, it was quite difficult trying to get a booking in that studio because it was being used a lot by music students in the college.

Booked the first video shoot for tomorrow in the college studio, and so the making of the music video begins!!!

This one of our locations that we plan to shoot at for the intro of the music video, we believe that it is quite a nice scenery for an establishing shot for the intro, it also be used in the middle of the music video.

We had to switch up our music video from it being a complete narrative based music video to a performance based and narrative based music video. This was because when planning our storyboard together we found that it would take quite some time to do, time we think that we don't have enough of to do it. Furthermore, it was also due to the lack of actors that could get involved, so in result we had to switch it up a bit so that it's both easier and still doing-able within the given time we have.


I've even got some idea's from my case study to do since just like in Kendrick Lamar song "Alright" it was also narrative and performance based. I'm trying to figuring out the cutting rate at which they made used to show the narrative side and performance side to know how I should be doing for my music video.

J.Cole lyrics analysis

Today we try to discuss dates for the video shoot so that we can organise ourselves and try figure out to book the college camera equipment for our video shoot. It's been kind of difficult due to our timetable though because on of our video shoots is shot inside of college and we have to book the studio where it's not being used and where we are all free to use the studio which is imposing a slight problem. However, if not by the end of this week, we will start shooting the video next week.
